Exercise_02: Understanding the Workspace

The exercise will be assessed on the following criteria:

60%        Content
30%        Presentation
10%        Timeliness

Overview:
In order to understand both adaptability and how smart materials can be applied, we need to first understand the contextual situation of the workspace.  We are interested in both the physical attributes of the design and design elements and the ways in which the space is used and the potentials therein.

For this Second exercise you are to each do two Case Studies of a small office or a small workspace area of a larger area.

Document the following:

General layout and Organization
Circulation
Furniture types
Materials (Colors, Textures, Wall, floor and Ceiling Coverings)
Day lighting
Artificial Lighting
Wiring
Privacy
Views
Storage
You will have to speculate the following:  
Acoustics
Temperature
Where one writes/draws/uses computer

You are free to present by any means you see fit as long as it can be viewed from a distance, if you use digital means then bring a CD or USB card.
