Neural Sky

A large interactive exhibit design and built in a course on architectural robotics  and exhibited at Beyond Wonderland Concert with about 30,000 people. Aslo check out the blog and lots more photos (Cal Poly)

Interactive Environments Workshop 2010

A great workshop focused on creating interactive architectural environments with some great robotic models - currently ongoing in Hong Kong - check out the blogs (hkpu)

Catalyst City

Space Architecture related design studio focusing on Growth. Rather than sending a constructed architecture to space, we send tiny robotic modules that are capable of reproducing themselves using in-situ materials. When enough of the architecture of the colony has constructed itself- we send humans to inhabit it. (Cal Poly)

Mojave Air and Space Terminal

A great thesis project by grad student Elena Brogen - Click on the image to enlarge (Cal Poly)

Living Labs Workshop

This was a fun workshop given at Taysheng Jeng's Interactive Architecture Lab with some great advance students - Here is anotehr one of their great projects in the advanced group based on their previos work Here  (ncku)

Base for the Space Elevator

Space Architecture related design studio focusing on Biomimetics with some expert collaborators from Boeing, NASA JPL and Computer and Electrical Engineering - A super interesting project which "may eventually prove to be one of the paradigm shifts in space exploration and colonization, and commercialization of space." - A. Scott Howe - JPL
 (Cal Poly)

FlockWall

A great interactive exhibit at Coachella Festival - 200,000 prople there for 3 great days! - Design and construction of a full-scale interactive assembly of flocking objects - A good experiment in distributed intelligence (Cal Poly)

Embedded Interaction Workshop (Biomimetics)

Another Workshop in Hong Kong in Interction Design which should produce some great robotic prototypes. Needs to be formatted - For now check out the blogs (hkpu)

Viral Structures: Lunar Colony

Design of a Large Scale Lunar Colony focused on Space Manufacturing via redesigning the brick with Modular Robotics. Great course with expert collaborators from NASA/JPL and Boeing (Cal Poly)

Interactive Architecture Workshop

A great short workshop in Taiwan in November at NCTU. A lot of fun scaled robotic models of interactive architectural aplications

Embedded Interaction Workshop

Another month long workshop in Hong Kong on Interactive Architecture. Some great new prototype robotic applications. (hkpu)

Ex-Com Couch

A fun interactive exhibit in New Orleans at DesCours: the 8 day visual arts and architecture event. The Ex-Com (External Communication) couch is one of several robotic couches which can allow different people in remote locations to communicate with each other through the physical piece of furniture. (Cal Poly)

Bubbles

A long-term open-air interactive installation at Materials & Applications center for architecture and landscape research. This was a really fun project that won an AIA Honor award (the highest) The best pics are under "process photos" (foxlin- with a lot of help)

Green Kit Prototypes

Sponsored by EPA. This robotic window system had a number of really great  full-scale prototypes - The project was presented in Washington DC as part of the People, Prosperity and the Planet Initiative and won a couple of awards. (Cal Poly)

iZoo

In important course for me - Based on Architecture teaching humans how to behave, and how we intuit from our environments.  Also a lot of good exploratoins on learning to control interactive environments from an interface standpoint - Crazy exhibit also with way too many people. Check out the exhibit photos (Sci_Arc)

iSpa

AMAZING! One of my all-time favorite installations. Understand that everything is moving and reacting with 14 tied together interactive projects.  Check out the exhibit photos (Art Center)

"Foxy" Interactive Restaurant

Really an incredible project with a tremendous ammount of work by students.  Check out the wiring on the floor system by Scott Franklin. This was exhibited at the JACC in downtown LA, prety cool photos from both exhibits - Watch the Movie  (Art Center)

Systems Sight and Sound

Some of the best prototype models ever. My first course in Hong Kong taught with Yasu Santo and Catherine Hu focused on created architectural environments that can reconfigure themselves to meet changing needs (hkpu)

End of Mechanics

An important workshop focused on looking at applicatoins for innovative materials to be used rather than traditional mechanical approaches to interactive architectural environments - still a pretty good resource. (Cal Poly)

Co-Ex Plane

A great short workshop with a single collaborative project taught with Yasu Santo and Catherine Hu.  A good exercise in distributed intelligence with a really nice model - Watch the movie! (hkpu)

Kinetics and CADCAM

A bit of a headache of a class - A good lesson in dealing with the realities of doing a public project in downtown LA! Some nice projects though - especially the Kintic Waterfall (Sci-Arc)

Intelligent Kinetic Systems

My first time teaching which was taught at MIT. In these days we had to use LEGOS for the robotics! Pretty good Prototype models and good Inverse Kinematic Models.  Most of the links seem to be gone but you can still find a few of them at the far right side of the Matrix  (MIT)
