The intelligent roof structure is to cover a large shopping area or outdoor gathering area. The prototype model shows the kinetic mechanism without the fabric covering. Each of the structures react to people passing by underneath to provide shade as they walk throughout the space. The fabric structures which also understand where the sun is, then open and close dynamically throughout the day making patterns of shadows on the floor and also forcing optimum ventilation currents for cooling the space.
